Valorisation of slaughter animal by-products rich in scleroproteins

Shahin BANASAZ, postdoctoral researcher within the BPM team was recruited within the framework entitled "valorisation of slaughter animal by-products rich in scleroproteins" and will devote his activity to keratin. He will be mainly involved in the characterization of several animal tissues (wool, feathers, etc.) in addition to a comprehensive study of keratin variability of different classes and characteristic of each by-product. The obtained data will help to identify the conversion process to be used also in connection with the intended application.

Shahin obtained his Master's degree in Iran, his native country, in 2013 and a PhD in Food Engineering and Biotechnology in Italy in 2021, with a study period in Finland during 2020. Additionally, between 2014 and 2017 he carried out, among other things, a research activity in Germany.
